Women's History Month

About one hundred years ago, people in the United States dedicated on day, March 8th, to honor the achievements of women.

Today, as we celebrate the whole month of March, I believe that we should recognized women every day for their courage, love, dedication and strength.

I have gather a collection of artwork inspired by their qualities, strength and talents. I worked alone with other artists to create a window display to honor the powerful and creative female energy.

I asked Grazyna Wilson to be the model for some of the new work displayed in our windows. Grazina and her daughter became political refugees after their life were threatened for her work with the historic Solidarity Movement which began in Poland in 1980. After her arrival, Grazyna earned a Bachelor’s degree and two Master’s Degrees. She completed a successful career as a high school teacher in Washington State, and 6 years ago retired and moved to Lancaster.

Her story inspired me to create a body of work along with friends to celebrate this powerful women.

Any one of you could have modeled for this special exhibit. These stories are your stories. When you hear them I am confident they will be familiar, and you will recognize the heroine that is in all of us.
