Street in Old Burgundy
Recently while cleaning and restoring an old painting, I became inspired to do something more in the tradition of the old masters. I like the timeworn look of paintings from the past with their distress and cracks, and I especially love the nostalgic feel of this long forgotten style. With “Street in Old Burgundy”, I went with a more traditional rendering of the subject, used subdued colors, but I still focused on catching the light in the way of the old plein air painters. I really enjoyed working on this piece because I was able to give my mind a rest from the more vibrant experimental work that I have been doing lately.
